Jan 2008 - Happy Birthday, Faithful Friends!
What a year! As we celebrate our first birthday, we look at how far
we’ve
come in such a short time.
January 23: An exploratory meeting is held by a group
of animal lovers to see if there is enough support to try to
build a no-kill animal sanctuary in Rowan County.
February 13: We vote to form, choose a name and a
board.
March: Anne Ingram attends the 60-hour workshop on
How to Start an Animal Sanctuary at Best Friends Animal
Sanctuary in Utah. James Faust writes our Articles of Incorporation.
April: We have our first public meeting. Over 65
people come! The Iredell Regulators have a fundraiser for us.
May: A Step in Time has an Antique Roadshow fundraiser
for us and other charities. Tom Caddell writes our 501(c)(3) application
for tax exemption as a public charity
June: We have a table at the Art on Easy Street event,
courtesy of A Step in Time.
August: We are approved for our 501(c)(3). 9lives
announces a $10,000 donation. Pick of the Litter yard sale at Spencer
Plaza raises $2,200. Land Trust, SURGE & FF have a table at Night
Out on the Town in Salisbury in Aug. & Sept.

September: Paws in the Park dog walk raises over
$5,000 for land Trust and FF. 9Lives and Morris the cat come to Salisbury!
9Lives hosts adoption events featuring FF cats. We staff a table at
RCCC's Fall Fest.

will match up to $100,000 in donations to FF! Outback luncheon raises
over $5,000 for FF. 9Lives has an adoption booth at Lowe’s
Motor Speedway and in Mooresville with FF cats.
FF volunteers staff a table at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church
health fair. Volunteers have a bake sale at Tractor Supply and raise
over $300!
December: Green Goat Gallery hosts a Santa Paws pet
photo fundraiser for FF.
Throughout the year, the Salisbury Post covers our
events and earns our undying gratitude.
Board members attend nonprofit fundraising seminars.
We close the year with over 600 people on our mailing list, and $164,000
in donations!
